During the first pregnancy, Victoria 18-year-old Edward Oxford attempted assassination of the queen, when she rode with her husband discovered a carriage through London. Oxford fired twice, but each time missed. He was charged with high treason, but eventually acquitted him because of his mental illness. Judgement has been questioned by many. Some felt that the act of Oxford served paying attention. Also believed that the attack may be chartist movement (radical and mass political movement demanding the democratization of the electoral law). Also suggested that the coup was to defend the position of heir to Ernest Augustus Hanover. These conspiracy theories have contributed to the growth of patriotism and loyalty to the Crown of the British.
The coup had no effect on pregnancy. h the first daughter was born, Victoria, the first of nine children of the Victoria and Albert.
In 1841, the Whigs lost the general election and the Tories came to power. The position of prime minister for the third time in his career he became Robert Peel.
